I am certain that there are few people in the boating
industry that use a jack plate as much as I do for all of its proposes and
more. Not just for speed any more jack plates have become the industry
standard for additional set backs with adjustable transom heights coupled
with the ability to go shallower and farther improving almost every outboard
application especially the single engine smaller boat arena. Seems like
every time I turn around someone is selling another version of a jack plate
boasting faster jacking time, Lighter weight, shorter setbacks, longer set
backs, Better pump design and so on. In my career as a flats fishing guide
with performance tuned boats I have run the gamut so to speak in the Jack
plate world and finally found what I believe is the very best out there that
fits all the criteria one could possibly ask for. The Stainless Marine
Gorilla Jack.

Stainless marine and see their whole product lineup for all sorts of high
performance and general applications.

I am a full time flats fishing guide out of Key West Florida. I chose a Lake
and Bay 20 ft boat as my tool for the flats coupled with a 2.5 XS mercury
racing opti max I need to have a good lift plate to make my day go well in
the shallows. I have the 5 inch set back jack with the 7 inch travel for the
v 6.
There
are many things I find that are better than the others out there. I will
touch on the more important Items.
First- Stainless truly built a product worthy of
the name Gorilla. Even in these smaller pics one can see the HUGE
construction of this jack plate.
These first two photos show really well how the pieces
fit together. Since these photos were taken there has been an adjustment to
make them even stronger as you can see in the last shot. There was a cross
piece put over the top to sort of make a Cap on the plate to give it more
box strength, not that I thought it needed it. Most of the competitors use a
small plate to hang the motor on. This plate is HUGE and strong as all hell.
If I have not bent one, I know you wont without seriously hurting your rig.
Second- NO Maintenance.. I love that. Means I
don't have to work more. Sign me up. The competitors require that you Grease
the weekly or what ever.. You will never grease a Gorilla Jack. The tongue
and grove mechanics allow this thing to slide easily up and down on a
plastic ride or sleeve. Some would say, awe your full of it.. NOPE I am not.
Don't Grease it.. Ever.
Third- LOOKS VERY COOL. I have owned one for as
long as 3 years on a skiff. The powder coating never dulled. The black
matches any truly awesome power application you may be using as it will be a
Mercury.. Right.. This product holds its look very well. I am super happy
here.
Fourth- General use, I have never had a failure,
What can go wrong.. Stainless marine uses the strongest trim pump on the
market and it is mounted inside the boat. I do recommend that you mount it
somewhere that it will not get drenched in salt water and left to dry or you
will begin to have issues. no fault of the pump mind you.
All the way around this is the best Jack money can buy.
Extras- Stainless marine has a whole entire catalogue for
parts to make you installation look and run great and they really know what
their product is supposed to do for your boat.
The folks at Stainless Marine are as nice as can be. They
are there to help you within reason. Give them a call. |
