Capt. Steven LampKey West Professional Fishing Guide Capt. Steven Lamp

Capt. Steven has been fishing the waters of Key West and the west coast of Florida his entire life. A Coast Guard licensed captain since 1986 he fished and dove offshore, inshore, wrecks and the reef from the Dry Tortugas to Tarpon Springs. Diving was his passion as a competitive spear fisherman and Dive Master. Capt. Steven is also a veteran of the United States Coast Guard. Doing his tour at Coast Guard Station Hatteras Inlet NC. as Heavy weather search and rescue Surfman.

Being on the water charges me. I love being able to look out and see nothing but a natural island or just the horizon. As you can imagine it gives me the feeling of being away from everything. People often ask me what I do for vacation. My response is - I go to work because every day out there ---- I get away...

After a diving accident that set him back and prevented him from competitively or commercially diving Capt. Steven set his knowledge of the Florida Keys and Key West waters to fishing. He then Turned full time professional fishing guide in 1995. The approach he has to guiding fishing charters is very unique reflecting that of a professional. Like a doctor Capt. Steven takes each client separately and finds out what it will take to help them "Live The Dream."

I see many other fishing guides here in Key West calling themselves the "best" or "Ace" or whatever. I have realized after over 3400 fishing charters that it's not about me. It's about the people I am fishing with.  its about my customers, they are why I am in this business. Every day I treat my customers with respect and courtesy. After being here most of my life finding and catching fish has become the easy part. I feel as though it does, however, take a professional to show people how to catch them day in and day out all while having a great time no matter the outcome..

Who is the best fishing guide? The one you chose and the one you had a great day with.

Tony Esposito PermitCapt. Steven is always happy to answer questions about what he does for a living. Writing many articles for different magazines, Capt. Steven loves to share his knowledge with others so that they may enjoy the beauty of the waters that have been given us to play on. He understands that the world he lives in is full of wonder for folks who only get to visit once in a while.

I really enjoy writing. It helps me put a window in the the wall that separates the world out there and the one most people live in. Maybe they can read what I write and get a view of what I see everyday out there, or they may pick up a tip that might help them next weekend when they get out on the water. I guess its my way of sharing my little daily getaway.

Promoting the Florida Keys and Key West is another one of Capt. Steven's passions. Building a web site dedicated to information about Key West. His goal is to point people in the right direction when they are coming to visit the southern most island.

As you can imagine, Key West is exploding with growth. Although things have certainly changed a lot here the island is still a great place to visit. My web site just helps visitors beware. Its a free service that offers folks a ton of information about Key West with a toll free number to contact my office and speak to someone 7 days a week. Hand picked accommodations, activities and fishing charters for you to chose from backed with my seal of approval that it is the Best Of Key West.
