Located just 70 miles to the West of Key West is the Dry Tortugas National Park also called Fort Jefferson. This area is Jurassic Park for many species of fish. Everything seems to be bigger in the Dry Tortugas.
The Dry Tortugas are a National Park with many rules and no take zones. I have one of 11 permits that allow me to legally fish in these zones with customers.
About the fishing
Grouper and snapper fishing is the best in the state of Florida. Tuna fishing in the spring for black fin tuna behind the shrimp boats is a blast. King fishing is outstanding with live bait and Huge fish up to 65 lbs. Permit and amberjack fishing on the loaded wrecks with huge barracudas we catch on super light tackle. Its not hard to catch a nice bag limit of quality fish in the Dry Tortugas National Park.
Dry Tortugas Charters I Offer
I offer two different charter experiences out to the Dry Tortugas trying to cater to the vast needs of my clients. The Rates are the same. I just need to know what you want. Below are the two options.
The boat I use is a 32ft Yellowfin Center Console. She cruises at 40 mph and gets to the Dry Tortugas in less than 2 hours. Fast safe and comfortable.
Dry Tortugas Fishing Trip
10 hour day of fishing, all fishing, strictly fishing. We fish the wrecks and reefs deep and shallow for sport fish and food fish. Bottom fishing, some trolling of live baits or grouper plugs. Lots of casting and jigging. Geared toward the hard core fishing enthusiast that wants a great Dry Tortugas fishing experience. We may not even see the Dry Tortugas on this trip. Not more than 4 persons.
Dry Tortugas Fishing, Snorkeling, Sight Seeing.
10 hour day this trip is and easy going nice day geared more toward our family charter folks. Chose from Bird watching, fishing, snorkeling and a tour of the Dry Tortugas Fort Jefferson and Garden Key Light house area. Do as much or as little of each activity. A great day for the family. Not more than 5 persons.
